Elena Lara is an eclectic
collection of contemporary hand-crafted jewelry inspired by the ruggedly
beautiful northeast region of Spain, Catalonia.
Catalonia is bordered to
the east by the azure Mediterranean, which beats itself upon the cost
Brava, a rocky, jagged coastline. Just inland, the countryside becomes a
beautifully arid plane of rich browns punctuated by bronze colored rocks,
picturesque villages, irrigated farmland and Roman ruins. The city itself
is bordered to the west by Montserrat - the saw mountain - which has been
inhabited for centuries by monks.
The designer, Isabel
VandenBerg, is a native of Tortosa, Spain - a city which straddles the
Ebro River, which marks the southern border of Catalonia. Isabel lived for
many years in the heart of Barcelona, and her jewelry designs are inspired
by the uniquely Catalonian flavor of the city itself, its many local
artist and artisans who work and create along the tree-lined Ramblas de
Catulunya, as well as the raw beauty of the surrounding region.
